Pin front to back right sides together, carefully matching underarm seam intersections. Stitch continuous underarm sleeve seam and side seam in one pass from wrist to bottom hem.
Stitch short ends of rib neckband right sides together into a circle. Fold in half lengthwise wrong sides together. Quarter-mark band and neckline opening. Pin and stretch neckband evenly to stitch in the round.
Stitch short ends of each wrist cuff strip into a loop. Fold in half lengthwise wrong sides together. Pin to sleeve hem matching quarter points, stretch rib evenly, and serge in the round.
Stitch short ends of bottom rib hem band into a continuous loop. Fold in half lengthwise wrong sides together. Quarter-mark band and sweatshirt hem opening; stretch band evenly and serge into place.
Give all serged seams, neckband, cuffs, and hem band a thorough steam press with a pressing cloth to set the rib recovery.
