Step-by-Step Sewing Instructions

Draft construction notes. Readable online; review against the pattern pieces before sewing.

1

Stabilize the Ribbed Tank Shoulders

Place the Front Body and Back Body right sides together. If using the optional clear elastic, center it over each shoulder seam without stretching it; stitch the shoulder seams with a stretch-compatible stitch, finish together, and press toward the back.

2

Apply the Rib Neckline Binding

Join the Neckline Binding Strip ends into a loop, quarter-mark the loop and neckline, and place them right sides together. Stretch only the binding as you stitch, turn it to the wrong side over the seam allowance, and topstitch with a stretch-compatible stitch.

3

Fit and Stitch the Ribbed Side Seams

Baste the front and back side seams right sides together and check the fitted tank without over-stretching the rib knit. Make equal adjustments on both sides, then stitch permanently with a stretch-compatible stitch and press the allowances toward the back.

4

Bind the Fitted Armholes

Join each Armhole Binding Strip into a loop, quarter-mark the loop and armhole, and stitch right sides together with even tension. Wrap the binding to the wrong side and topstitch, then compare both armholes to confirm equal stretch and coverage.

5

Hem the Ribbed Tank

Try on the tank and confirm the fitted length. Press the printed hem allowance to the wrong side without flattening the rib texture, then coverstitch or use a narrow zig-zag. Steam lightly and allow the knit to recover before the final fit check.

Troubleshooting & Fit Alterations

Solutions for common fitting hurdles and construction errors specific to this garment.

Problem: Seams puckering along stitch line

Possible Cause: Thread tension too high or needle blunt

Recommended Fix: Insert fresh needle and test balance on fabric scrap.

Problem: Wavy edge along curved perimeter

Possible Cause: Edge was stretched while feeding into machine

Recommended Fix: Staystitch immediately after cutting and use walking foot.
